Preserve your voice.
Protect your people.
Daena Doulas provides compassionate, non-medical support for people approaching end of life and for the communities who love them. We help you decide what stays, what goes, and what the people you care about will carry forward.
Imagine your loved one has died. You're cleaning out the attic and you find letters from an old paramour. Maybe some photos from their youth they wouldn't want shared. Would they want those returned to the sender? Passed along to their spouse? Their grandkids?
Now consider the digital version of that attic. Thousands of camera roll photos. Notes apps. Email threads. Accounts and subscriptions. A lifetime of digital traces — not just theirs, but yours too.
What matters? What should endure? And who decides?
Tending to what you leave behind
Preserve
We help you create multimedia love letters — recordings, writings, images, and curated memories — so the people who matter most can hear your voice long after you're gone.
Disappear
Some things are yours alone. We help you identify and plan for the removal of sensitive photos, messages, accounts, and digital traces on your terms, with your consent.
Protect
Your loved ones shouldn't have to make impossible decisions while grieving. We help you make those choices now, so they don't have to make them later.
What is a death doula?
A death doula, aka end-of-life doula, provides non-medical support to people approaching death. We help with emotional, spiritual, and practical matters: legacy work, advance planning, vigil support, and guiding families through the transition with dignity and intention.
We don't replace hospice or palliative care. We work alongside them, holding space for the questions that medicine can't answer and the decisions that paperwork can't capture.
Meet Fatemeh, she/her
I've spent nearly two decades working in technology ethics, privacy, and responsible AI, first as a VP and Principal Analyst at Forrester Research, then leading Responsible AI at Salesforce. That work was always about the same question: how do we protect people and their identities in a world that wasn't built with dignity in mind?
When a medical leave forced me to slow down, I found my way to death work. I trained as an end-of-life doula through the University of Vermont Medical School and was forever changed by it — by people's vulnerability, their fear, their grief, their anger, and the radical act of being present for all of it.
Daena Doulas grows out of that convergence: a career spent thinking about identity and ethical tech, and a calling to help people die well in a world where our lives and legacies are increasingly digital. We have so much work to do to help people navigate that, and I'm here for it.

What we believe
Transparency & Honesty
We answer questions truthfully. We don't gatekeep knowledge. Death deserves directness, delivered with care.
Integrity
We do what we say we will do, even when no one is watching. Our work is always human-centered.
Privacy
Your story and your data are yours. We protect it fiercely, in life and after. We only work with technology that aligns with those values.
Consent
Nothing happens without your explicit permission. Every decision remains yours. We believe in a dying person's right to autonomy.
Intersectionality & Allyship
Everyone deserves a dignified death, regardless of identity, belief, ability, or background. We center your chosen community. We love to work with third-culture, LGBTQIA+, and neurodivergent clients.
Dignity Until the End
You have the right to be treated as a living human being until death, and to be cared for by people who understand that.
Daena is rooted in Zoroastrian tradition. Daena means the inner self, the conscience, the essence of who you are. Our work begins with good thoughts, is carried through good words, and is completed through good deeds. This ancient framework guides everything we do.
